r/NewZealand subreddit update: Rules Refresh.

Hey team, just a bit of a critique that I think should be considered.

I’ve recently done a worksmart course at work, introductions to the six sigma principles. One of the first things you learn is that you need to understand what the problem is that you’re setting out to achieve, and I’m not sure that this is entirely clear in the mods heads who are tinkering with the rules.

You mention the ultimate goal is to increase positive discussion in the community.

Great.

What is the problem you’re trying to solve here, and is tinkering with the rules actually going to address that problem, or is it just shoveling things under the carpet and they’ll continue to bubble up.

I’m not convinced that the rules are a driver of bad community engagement, so while it sounds good in practice, is it actually setting out to solve your problem? (Which again I’m not convinced had really been thought about)
