/r/NintendoSwitch's Daily Question Thread (05/25/2018)

“9 hours of content” is misleading & is only something that people who don’t understand modern platformers will tell you.

If you just play through the game, you’ll “beat it” in about ten hours. Sure. But then you realize that there are extra levels that haven’t unlocked upon defeating the final boss. So then you realize you have to go back and collect all the KONG letters - which luckily are always immediately visible & are found by employing actual platforming skill, rather than having to sniff around every nook and cranny until you bump into one. It isn’t some sort of glorified scavenger hunt. Unlike puzzle pieces. That’s exactly what puzzle pieces are. Luckily there’s absolutely no reason to search for those. They don’t give you any additional content outside of some artwork stuff that you could just Google instead.

Anyways. You collect all the KONG letters to unlock something called “K Levels”. These are considerably more challenging than the regular levels, which already can be very difficult.

Once you complete all of the K Levels you unlock the ~secret~ 7th World, which is even more challenging than the K Levels.

Once you complete that, you unlock Hard Mode, which is where you go to become a true aficionado of the game. Only one heart, no checkpoints, and no Kong-friends to accompany you on your back.

By the time you’ve beaten the game on hard mode you’re looking at about a thirty hour game. And it never gets boring (assuming you’re a fan of platformers). It simply gets progressively more challenging as your skill goes up. And then of course there’s time trial which will keep you going even further, because it’s fundamentally just an amazing game that you’ll want to keep playing.
