Hate:

I hate handling people. I try to follow my old Team Lead's philosophy. He let's most things slide as long as we do a good job (within sched, minimal to no defects) but people make it really hard/challenging/annoying.

To top it off, manglement is doing a great ^/s job. I hate that every year they need to see growth. I hate that the only direction they want to go is somewhere where profit can be maximized.

When most of the processes have refined to hell and back, the only other way left to make a "profit" is to cut costs.

Here's a short list of the shit they did:

• Removed trash bins from every cubicle and placed a big trash bin to be used by the whole floor at the end of the floor. ^{Apparently, having the bins get cleared from every cubicle costs more than just having them clear one big trash heap}

• Removed reward points that can be exchanged for stuff. ^{Again, because it costs money}

• Scheduled the AC to turn-off automatically at 12nn-1pm. ^{We work flex hours. Some people come in around that time}

Love:

I love programming. It's one of my few passions in life. And in my job, I got to experience the whole spectrum. From getting told to fix a certain bug, being the one approached for advice on how to fix a bug, to designing whole systems and leading the development effort.

It also keeps me learning since some client requests require technology I have little to no experience in.

We have a loose flex schedule. We can come in some time between 7am-12nn (technically 3pm).

I have a laptop and I can work from home any time provided that there are no critical issues that need my presence in the office.

Work comes in seasons. If there's a big project, it becomes really challenging. Late nights, deadlines, etc. If the work is relatively light, I get to relax and slow down.

Location is pretty far from home but not so bad with the flex time.

Decent pay considering I have time to reddit in between work.
