Look, I get that you went dark with the purpose of forcing the admins to engage with you in some line of communication. I, and I believe much of reddit, applaud you for that. Many people are upset with you because you essentially folded while holding a full house. I don't know if this was due to fear (of being removed as mods perhaps), fatigue, or perhaps personal appeals from the admins (according to speculation in the SRD live thread). As the moderators of this sub it's of course your right to come back online whenever you want but I think it's essential that you understand that you've considerably weakened your negotiating position. In my understanding, this whole thing happened because the firing of Victoria acted as a catalyst for an explosion that had been brewing for a while. To put it simply, the admins have been treating you and other mods like shit (and obviously a similar sentiment is shared by the general reddit body as evidenced by their support), they did this with no signs of stopping until several mods shut down their subs today. Several more mod teams followed and enough momentum was built that eventually they couldn't ignore it or you. Take note of how long it took them to respond, they didn't even engage you until it was obvious they couldn't just ignore you away. What you should have done is held with the other blacked out subs and asked for quantifiable timelines for mod tools, for more concrete explanations as to the changes that are being made. On the latter topic, you are a voice for the general users and had a rare opportunity to use leverage to force a dialogue with the administration. Instead, you immediately capitulated as soon as the admins gave you a promise that mod tools were coming (how long have they been "on the way" for?). As a large sub this significantly decreases the momentum of the movement and decreases everyone's collective bargaining power. Mark my words, the admins will appease and stroke moderator egos until this all dies down, perhaps implement a few superficial changes that do nothing to actually the current site-wide structural issues, and then proceed to ignore you again. Why? Because they can.
