/r/Plex's Build Help Thread - 2018-11-09

I'm just now testing out Plex Pass. I've had a Plex account since forever. Never really used it, but got an email for lifetime, so I'd like to give it a shot. Why is in home streaming so shit?

I like Plex's ability to gather meta data on the content I've provided, but everything is streaming horribly. I'm using Android TV and I know there's been talk here about how bad it is.

Should I ask for a refund? Trailers, movies, home movies all look terrible. "Make my CPU hurt." That does absolutely nothing and I'm guessing ethernet is probably the way to go, but that day and age has come and gone.

My AP band is at 5 GHz, is there this magically setting where everything doesn't need to be transcoded? Plex is worthless if I have to hardwire throughout my house. Any suggestions?
