r/unpopularopinion takes a shot at people who can't cook, serves up instant drama

Yes it can be intimidating but cooking is a life skill in my opinion. Life skills are things you need to know in order to be an independent adult. I grew up in a household where my grandmother did all the cooking. She never taught me how to cook.

The first year of college, I was on a meal plan so I never learned how to cook.

Second year of college, I decided I was going to learn how to cook so I did not get the meal plan, bought 3 cookbooks and cooked the recipes I really wanted to try. I cooked ~5 days a week during my second and third year of college because I knew that was a life skill I needed to learn.

Was it intimidating? Yes. Did I fail a lot? Yes. Did I use the internet to help me? Of course! (Cooking videos are your friend!)

The only way something is less intimidating is by doing it...a lot. There is no shortcut to obtaining experience or confidence when it comes to learning any skill.
