I'm working on an album based on the concept of Purgatory

I tried to write this song really earnestly, but I'm worried the lyrics come across cheesy

It's just a demo right now so I'm not super stressed on the quality of the mix, just the feel of the song I guess. The chorus concept really isn't working for me now. I wanted to off-balance the air-y feeling of the verse with an aggressive and loud chorus but I'm not too confident in the execution.
