Have to agree. My parents had a rabbit nest in their flower planter about a month ago.

First their dog noticed something and my dad assumed it was ground moles.

So: dog digging around, then human digging around.

Then, my niece”fixed” the dirt around it in the days following. Found this out too late.

Then it rained. Hard.

Days later, my niece checked on them. They were buried deep in mud, but alive.

I tried to “reset”it with minimal impact.

My dad then would put various objects around it to protect it. Also leaving bread nearby. Oh Dear.

All along I knew that they should be just observers. Perhaps chaining the dog up out of range for the next few weeks.

Doomed from the start, they died. I buried them.
