Race and Crime statistics in the US?

I would say this topic is if anything even more radioactive than "race and intelligence".

The belief most fundamental to racism is moral superiority of our tribe over theirs. An antisemite will typically acknowledge that Ashkenazi Jews are intelligent - even that they're more intelligent than non-Jewish whites - but accuse them of various moral defects.

With race and intelligence one can consistently hold the view that it's purely an empirical matter with no implications for moral superiority, and "can't we just discuss this like adults"?

On the other hand, if you find your way to a belief in a genetic link between race and crime, regardless of how you got there, even if your initial motivation was purely to follow the evidence wherever it leads, then how do you avoid concluding that race A is morally superior to race B (in one important respect at least)?

The analogy that suggests itself is a Moebius strip where you can end up on the reverse side (with truly racist beliefs) simply by following the other side far enough around.

I'm not saying the real world is such a "Moebius strip", but I don't see any good reason to assume it isn't.
