I no longer consider myself liberal or progressive in 2022. I did my whole life. It largely comes down to Israel and Jewish issues for me but not only these issues tbh. I prefer to just call myself an independent in 2022. That way I no longer have to tire myself out constantly trying to do mental gymnastics protecting people with advanced degrees from cosmopolitan cities who are obsessed with Israel beyond reason like Ken Loach.
It is as if the higher the degree, the more renowned the university one attended, the more unaffordable your city and your block are for working class people to live on. . . . the larger and large the invisible shield protecting oneself from accusations of anti-semitism grows. How could I be racist? I am ANTI-racist! How could I have any anti-semitism in the backwaters of my unconscious mind? It is impossible since I went to Oxford...I went to Haverford...I went to LSE...I am a socialist...I went to the Sorbonne....I went to Princeton...I am an anarchist...I have read all of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's novels...I have a doctorate from UCLA...I did my master's at Northwestern...I live in the suburbs of Portland...I live in Park Slope....I live in Seattle...I have a home in the Oakland foothills overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge....I studied meditation in Bali for 2 months last year... I did mushrooms at Burning Man several years ago ... I have a sign on my front lawn denouncing all forms of racism and classism...therefore.. you can't accuse me of being racist or anti-semitic. You see, its nigh impossible.
