Ross Golden-Bannon was born in Dublin in 1967. He was educated at St Fintan’s CBS Sutton, The University of North London and l’Université Catholique de l’Ouest, Angers, France. He has a BA (Hons) in politics, economics and French and specialised in European Studies.

He worked for New Labour in the House of Commons in London until September 2000, as Political Assistant to Nick Ainger MP, the Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for Wales. He also acted as an informal lobbyist for Stonewall to The House of Lords.

In December 1999 he was accepted onto the list of Parliamentary Candidates for the British General Election 2001. He withdrew his name in September 2000 and returned to Ireland to pursue a career in the private sector. He combined a commercial role at The Sunday Business Post as head of the Conference Department with his weekly restaurant column. In 2004 he co-founded Bannon & Bannon, a media communications company, with his brother Ultan which later evolved into RGB Consulting specialising in agri/food strategy as well as the developing world. His consulting firm merged with Grayling Global in 2008. He was the restaurant critic for The Sunday Business Post from 2000 to 2014 and he was appointed editor-in-chief of FOOD&WINE Magazine in May 2008. He steered the magazine through difficult financial times and his radical cover options won magazine front cover of the year 2010 and Magazine of the Year 2014.

He is regularly sought after as a commentator on a wide range of contemporary subjects on radio and TV. He has acted as relief presenter on a number of national radio shows.

He is a supporter and former board member of One Family, co-founder of the Dublin Rape Crises Centre Wilde October Ball, and board member of Marriage Equality. He was also elected to membership of the Irish Food Writer’s Guild.

He published his first eBook 'How to Write About Food - the top 50 writing bloopers to cross an editor's desk' in December 2012.
