In some ways, I think this whole thing is the best thing for the Knicks. It's sort of the final nail in the whole cycle of quick fix fantasies. They'll accept that what needs to happen is the better part of a decade of smart front office hires, real basketball people making good decisions, patience, drafting and development. They'll stop acting like they have a talented core and just need a big move to be a contender, and they'll stop giving JD of Straight Shot fame their money until he leaves the team in competent hands. I think we'll look back on today as the day Knicks' fortunes changed, not as some unexpected fluke that cost them something they felt the team was owed for no reason.
