Rand Paul has began his filibuster for the patriot act renewal

Yes, I am a catholic, but my views on abortion have been the seem since my time as an atheist when I was twelve.

just because someone is an atheist doesn't mean they aren't having their opinions influenced by religion.

Why does a few inches separate someone from personhood and being a parasite?

I'm not sure why a measure of distance is relevant here. The definition I'm using is based on medical viability: can it survive on its own, without being bodily dependent on someone else, without the aid of medical technology?

Even a zygote, that first tiny little cell, is a unique human that is alive, with human dna, the ability to grow, and all the potential in the world.

cancer has human dna, the ability to grow. potential means nothing. Existing life's rights are not abrogated by potential life.

Even if you don't want the kid, there are plenty others out there who do.

A) irrelevant from a standpoint of rights

B) have you ever looked at the adoption system, and exactly how many kids never get adopted. Are you going to put your money where your mouth is on this issue? (Note: i actually know a catholic who did put his money where his mouth is and adopt 7 kids in addition to his 2 biological. I applaud him for being honest)

I don't think there's any adult out there who doesn't know that unprotected sex could result in pregnancy. When you consent to having unprotected sex, you say you're willing to take that risk.

Does crossing the road mean you consent to being struck and killed by a car - after all, you knew it was a potential consequence?

Does birth control never fail?

Do condoms never fail?

Nobody here is arguing that unprotected sex without some form of birth control is wise. Its a dumbass thing to do unless you want a kid. However it also doesn't abrogate your right to deal with the consequences in any fashion you see fit: be that abortion, carrying to term and giving away for adoption, keeping it, etc.

Why is it so difficult for you to understand that the prior action (having sex) does not abrogate your right to control your body later (chose whether or not to remain pregnant)?
