I am from Telangana. Born and brought up there. Been around the state during split and left country just couple of months ago. Here is what it is.
Let me address general stuff before airing my personal views.
Cash: T state got more cash in coffers to spend, so doing all the painting around.
Police: New vehicles were bought under Kiran's govt and Mr.Maruti Tirumala Rao IPS ex-commissioner was behind it (I personally know him), they just happened to be delivered after elections. Nothing KCR did there, except to cut ribbons. She teams idea was also an old one and was experimented before KCR came to power, just that it happened to have been implemented mainstream.
IT: Most of IT bigwigs are from AP, so they sympathize. But these guys are business men after all and are here to stay if AP doesn't get special status and tax cuts.
Personally, KTR (Son and IT minister) is doing a pretty good job (at least well educated and young compared to previous guys). But most of what we hear in news has been mostly just that news. But will give more time do things to materialize. Some of it is also coz Hyd is ITIR.
Electricity: Things seem to have become better in just last 3-4 months. Before that 3-4hr cut was the norm. They refused to buy power from AP and AP also didn't give them, so they paid higher price (as they had more cash) from other states. Farmers in my village(yes, we have been in Telangana as far as my grand pa was able to remember) are facing bad electricity issues and water issues. Lakes protection is a good thing but a long plan.
Animosity towards AP: There has been an undue animosity towards them even after getting the state. The CM himself was involved in making insulting comments and inciting regional violence even after becoming CM. He is so obsessed with AP and hell bent on making their life miserable that he did a lot of shit including taking drastic decisions that effect students and multiple times blatantly violating the AP reorganization act, especially in education. Education was supposed to be common for 10yrs, but within first year, they have separate everything, including engineering seats and some of the best colleges are in and around Hyderabad, so AP students are fucked! Increased road tax for AP buses (other state buses) and started double taxation. And the list goes on and on...
Politics in general: Its a personal fiefdom of KCR and family (not even co). KTR gets to say who is who in cabinet. Kavitha gets similar treatment. Kavitha has so much influence that she was able to 'lease' entire Yousufguda stadium (worth around 200/0 Cr) to Jwala Gutta her personal friend with a stroke of a pen. KTR n Kavitha n Harish Rao (nephew) fight regularly directly and indirectly. Once KCR dies (he is supposed to soon coz of liver cancer or sth), it will be a blood bath!
Personally, KCR is a big opportunistic liar. One day he says andhra guys are cheats and liars and nobody before 195x isn't local etc. Later in GHMC elections, goes to KPHB (andhra populated area) and says, 'We are all Hyderabadis, and even if a single andhra guy gets a thorn in his leg, I shall remove it with my teeth'.
Eg of classic KCR: Before split, goes to Sonia, promises merger and goes to her with his entire entourage of a family for lunch. Once T is got, says, I never said so and we aren't merging.
So whatever KCR promises, I believe it cannot be taken at face value coz he has many many many times outrightly lied and made tons of U turns (yeh AK ka par Dada hain), unless you see something on ground and has been fully done, for that we need to give the govt more time.
Other non mentioned topics include curtailing media, hate speech and lots of it, brazenness without thinking or consultation yada yada yada.
But I got to give one thing to the guy, he is an awesome orator and does captivate people with just few sentences.
