Monopoly, suppose I have 20 kg of brinjals to sell, now I want to sell them at 10rs per kilo to make a nice little profit, government fixes msp at 10 rs per kilo so nobody will buy at lower price.

Now reliance fresh comes and tells me, you sell your brinjals to me at 5rs or gtfo, now either I have to sell my brinjals to them at 5rs or risk the crop getting bad and making no money. Reliance has the power in this case, they know that the farmers can't bargain when they stand to lose everything if they are unable to sell their brinjals before it rots.

Secondly, the crops are no longer classified as essential, which means middle men who have access to cold storage can hoard the crops to cause artificial scarcity and price rise.
