Random Thoughts, Small Questions, and General Discussion (week of February 18, 2019)

I’m a vegetarian and yesterday I got a huge craving for meat. I gave in and ate very rare lamb chops. I woke up in the night vomiting and (TMI warning!) had very bad diarrhoea in the morning.

Serves me right, but I’m wondering - is that food poisoning or my body’s reaction to meat? I’ve had meat after long breaks before (like six months) and not felt too bad. I don’t normally have a sensitive stomach in any regard. That suggests it’s food poisoning, but I thought food poisoning was uncommon with rare red meat.

Anyone with a medical background know?

*yeah, it’s bad I ate meat, but when I get huge cravings I prefer to just indulge and then not eat meat for 6-12 months (or longer). It’s better I do that than strive to be “perfect” and burn out. I’ve been vegetarian and largely vegan for 8 years
