I currently play an Aarakocra ranger with the "Primevil Guardian" subclass and i love him.

Since I like to support my party and always played healer and wanted a change, i decided on that flying semi-tank spear'n shield wielder. He is still mobile and can change positions quickly and can deal damage at range, since I granted him Spear Mastery at Lv 4. And if I need to reinforce a position I can use my "Guardian Soul" transform to grow large (which increases my spear range further to 15 ft) and gain temporary Hp.

I. Just. Loooove. Him. I dont play him as a ranged fighter (which i could since he still got Longbow proficiency) but i didn't have to yet.
