My opinion is they went downhill when they tried charging $4500 for the luxury Willard. I think there are enough of us who wanted a 6108 size case (which the skx 777 was not) with a solid auto, hacking movement at a decent price. Instead, we have the SPB series starting over a grand. I would be happy with a sub $500 Seiko with an nh35 movement with a 42mm case size on a silicone strap. Like what they sold in the PXs late 60s into the 70s. Seiko is too hung up on reinventing the retro look and forgot what dumb grunts want. A fairly inexpensive mechanical beater you can wear from Benning through Bragg and not have to worry if you lose it on a jump.
