[Rant] It's annoying to see this every Easter in a Christian-Orthodox country

As you might know, the Orthodox Easter isn't always at the same time as the Catholic one, as they completely screwed up the measurement of this date, but this is another rant. Basically they use the wrong calendar (Julian calendar).

What's wrong with the different measurement of the date? It's different, but LOL no date is wrong or right. It's just differences in the two main Christian Churches, Orthodox and Catholic Church.

No one except the patriarch is allowed in the tomb when the "wonder" happens.

Noone is allowed in the tomb IN GENERAL when a "mystery" is performed by the "fathers" (that's how orthodox christians call their priests). So what you were expecting to happen in biggest celebration of the church? Change the rules? (Easter is for the orthodox what Xmas is for the Catholics).

Some Greek men showed how one can make self-lighting candles, and basically cracked this magic trick.

Yeah, that "some greek men" is called Mihalis Kalopoulos and wrote great books against Christianity debunking the religion's myths, lies and magic tricks they used in order to convince poor people into accepting the religion. He's basically Greece's underground Richard Dawkins. If you are Greek, you should order his books now.

And, of course, being in an Orthodox country, if you dare mention that the trick can be done without any divine intervention, you are worse than Satan. Yepeee

LOL no. I'm an out-of-the-closet atheist and I may have my differences with some people, but they definitely don't call me Satan or worse than Satan. I'm sorry if you had that experience, but truth is that what you are saying here is the exception, not the rule.

What I'm trying to say is, relax and enjoy the celebrations. You don't have to take part in the ritual, if you don't want to. At midnight I'll go to our local church, get some damn light that came from Jerusalem, socialise with the theists and go home. Tomorrow I'm gonna spend my time with family, friends and people that I love, celebrating the fake resurrection of a guy called Jesus. They (well, most of them) believe in that thing, I don't. But that's not gonna stop me from having a great time.

Happy Easter!
