Sharing my experience before anything else here. A married guy (10 years next month), who has moved from one place to another (cities as well as 4 countries)

There are pros and cons to both large cities and smaller ones. But here are a few things to consider

1. Financial: Even if all expenses increase proportionally with salary, financially you are better off in a bigger city. In a very layman style, if you are saving 20% of your income now, even with higher salary and higher expenses the same 20% for 20l will be higher. I would also argue that while some expenses increase like rent and transportation, most other remain relatively flat. Your branded clothes, shoes and that shiny new iphone will cost same whether you earn 12lpa or 20lpa. It just becomes smaller percentage of your income as you earn higher. In your case however its different. You will be renting in new city which is a major expense. I used to rent an apartment for 33k plus maintenance in gurgaon back in 2013. Cannot imagine where would that be today. With one salary that is going to be hard especially if you want to grow your family and save for a house. Just go to a property site and show a comparable house in a tier1 city in a decent location.then make the spreadsheet.
2. Social- in larger city you will be new and alone. And so will be your wife. Does she have friends here? Do you guys enjoy have fun with friendss today? That social tie will be cut off completely.it will be a while before you can make new friends good enough to hang out together. This is specially true for the wife if she is going to be staying at home.
3. Personal: do you guys spend time together. Talk and have random moments together? All that will be at stake for lack of time.

But apart from all of these, from your post I sense a lot of anger and frustration that may not be limited to this issue in particular. So tier1 or tier 2, problem may be elsewhere.
