Rants and Raves about Idaho living.

Rave:

Tons of great hiking and backpacking. Relatively uncrowded and no permits. Girlfriend's family has gotten me somewhat into dirtbiking and I'm getting into mountain biking.

Rant:

The Wood River Valley housing market has been fucked by short term rentals. People are taking rentals off the market and buying units to turn into de facto hotels. My girlfriend's mom had a 80% rent increase and when she moved out a third of the floor had been converted to full time AirBnBs (they had keyless entry). Residences are supposed to be for residents.

Labor laws suck. I hate being on call and not being paid. It's bullshit. The lack of paid ten minute breaks isn't fun either.
