Do I think either side will have some coming to Jesus moment if they sat down and spoke? Fuck no. But there can be no more ignorant position than thinking you have it all figured out and can solve complex social problems on your own.

That is a lovely sentiment for someone who likely holds majority views. What do you do in the 1960s if you are Richard and Mildred Loving? Do you wait until the laws change? Do you go to court? What if you are Edith Windsor (born 1929) and Thea Spyer (born 2009)? Do you go to Canada in 2007 to get married?

Both those cases involved the courts OVERTURNING legislation put in place by elected representatives. Change happened in spite of voting in those cases.

Yes, voting has it's place in our system. Civic duty, however, goes beyond simply taking a day to vote. Plus, there is plenty work to do outside the halls of government.

I voted but I don't use it to virtue signal and think no less of people who don't. I can guarantee you that you and I both voted on things we did not understand in this last election. Why be proud of that?
