Rare old books saved from landfill

A friend and I found a huge collection of books in the basement of a Methodist student center for NWMSU. Many of them were 19th century editions. There was an edition of The Scarlet Letter bound in beautiful pressed leather. The minister (who was a people pleaser, not a God pleaser), said that they were donated by a professor decades ago, and he had forgot about them. He didn’t like me or my friend (we often confronted him over his pride and hypocrisy), so when we offered to buy them, he refused, saying that they were given to the Center, and should not be sold. I think that he allowed friends to take the best ones, because only those ones soon went missing. Or maybe he sold them online when he saw how excited we were. Ehlers was always looking for a way to make more money and friends in high places.

Congrats on your find!
