Raymond J. de Souza: COVID may have hastened Christianity's decline in Canada

So many churches did a great job of being responsible citizens during the pandemic/lockdowns.

Many embraces the idea that they would be a better witness to the world by operating in a way that was caring to their congregation and the greater community.

It could be argued the Christians had a real opportunity to show the world what it looks like to love their neighbors throughout this whole ordeal. While the majority (as far as I can tell,) did a pretty good job, the very vocal minority that opposed and defied restrictions is going to be the group that people remember.

I would go so far as saying that that minority influenced a larger portion of the Christian population to at least doubt or oppose the wisdom of health regulations, even if they didn't actively defy them.

This is going to be the legacy of the church when it comes to the pandemic.
