RCN members vote to reject NHS pay offer for nursing staff in England

Beyond frustrating that the margins were so tight. I spent 8 years on wards as a HCA. My starting pay was £14,499 before tax and I was drowning.

Left the wards a few years ago and now I go through thousands of patients data across multiple trauma centres providing research to prove they recieved the correct care so the government will give them their funding. Literally handling millions of pounds of data and I’m stuck as a band 3, with my union voting 73% in favour of this.

If my job ceases, the trauma centres cease to function. Those in “unskilled jobs” are working just as hard, and suffering just as much from this pay disparity.

Just blindly hoping now that the RCN holds the line.
