“We’re not student athletes. We’re here to play sports." - Nigel Hayes

Is Nigel protesting here or just commenting? I can't tell what he's about because I've seen several different comments from him on this sub recently and they are not all about the same thing. Seems like he just likes to speak his mind. I don't have a problem with that, I just think his view on this is ignores a ton of appreciative student athletes that are grateful for the opportunity to get a free education.

I don't think people should shut up, but I tend to think that those who make real progress due so with their actions a perseverance rather than words. I haven't seen an effective protest in a long time, seems they just further divide people today. I don't care much about the national anthem. I think there is rampant inequality in this country and that it is tied to race throughout history. My solution is to try and create opportunities for people through entrepreneurship, and to encourage people to start small businesses. Universities create a lot of opportunities. I have a lot of friends who benefited from scholarships and think that their universities made a big difference to their lives.
