Reading Greg Prince's book, "Gay Rights and the Mormon Church," and came across the following gem:

I think this point comes from the same dark place as the “white genocide” idea. It is more about the fear that there will be other view points that they can’t shield their kids from. The thought of their kids thinking for themselves and the religion going into decline as a result is to them the same as extinction. If there is not a future where they have power, then they would rather there be no future. It is a type of projection in that they want to have a world where people are only married, and therefore allowed to have children, when they are faithful mormons. This is the underlying pathology of patriarchy, a need to conquer and control. It isn’t gayness that they fear, but the philosophical implications of what we now understand about sexuality and how it contradicts their crooked dogma. They simply fear their children will come across an idea that is more grounded in reality and so question what they have been taught. This is the same reaction behind conservative movements around the world, a fear of change. I believe the fact that we can all see so clearly that motivation is itself a testament to their lack of conviction.
