Maybe I'm atypical, but I've felt that a large amount of Brandon's twists don't work for me. They either have too little foreshadowing that I still reject the twist after reaching it, or too much foreshadowing that I think it was something I was intended to have already figured out by that point. It's a hard balance to do correctly, though I think he tends to get better at this in the later books.

I finished BoM assuming LR was still LR, and that the coin just showed something extra about his life between era 1 and era 2, which I assumed would then be covered in SH. I didn't literally go to Google to look it up, but I was using the subreddit wiki after each book to see a list of all the connections I missed, and that's where I saw it.
