Is reading unproductive? I would like to know your opinion

I really like your comment.

Why do you that reading is not the key tool to education, revolution, self-improvement? Reading and writing is the main focus of learning, knowing how to read is knowing how to comprehend. That makes reading useful. Commucation, education, and overall understanding is what you can gain from a book.

I don't think we are so advanced nowadays that it reading isn't needed. Of course you can be illiterate and still be smart, like most things reading is just a tool to help you, kind of like money.

But since I know how to read so I'm going to try and get the most out of it, if I ever have children I'll teach it to them.

Thanks for your response :)
