I know it's sad we have even argue that training should be a prerequisite to own a gun. Just like practice and a road test is required prior to drive a car. Or a crane. Or being the guy that does the engineering math for a bridge.

We require training in every single place in society. But with this aspect in society these people just stand up and scream. And I get it, even in LE there are those gun guys. They have an armory at home, and it's a bit scary cause they are one of those people but are in LE. There is no easy answer to any of it.

But as I'm typing this I realize it all boils down to education. It's hard to explain to someone why we would want our teachers, if we're going to arm them, to have training. A lot of the country doesn't require teachers to have a college degree.

So it sucks that since we can't seem to gain any traction in making it more difficult to have them, and we've already got so many million out in the world. This is where we're at. And if this is where we're at the LEAST we can do is try to make sure they are trained.

Cops will shoot a guy who they thought had a gun, and they have training (not an argument here cause training requirements are far from standardized or every barely sufficient in some instances). Now you've got a bunch of teachers, who are barely trained running around the school trying to find and engage that actual shooter? They will inevitably end up shooting people that shouldn't have been. This is all just a huge fucking mess.
