Ready Player One [2018]

I'm gonna play devil's advocate here. Say what you want about the book's writing style (and wanking tracts), but at least it didn't all take place in the same city. The film had not only Wade's home but the IOI and all of his associates conveniently located in Ohio. In the book they were only able to be in the same place at the very end because Morrow was able to bus them around. And Wade had to travel across the country to access to IOI facility. In the film, the global scale and potential of the OASIS felt kinda negated.

Also, Aech was able to render an environment photorealistic enough to dupe the simulation's fucking owner in a matter of hours. The book was more consistent with the logic of the OASIS, though it's granted that the kind of exposition you can get away with (or not) in a piece of writing will absolutely not fly in a movie.

I think both the film and book have major drawbacks, but there's things the latter did badly that the former did well, and vice versa, that if combined properly would make something a lot more consistent.
