The real Dune | What is the real story of Dune in the original book, compared to the 2021 Dune movie?

The film was just bad. The cinematography, sets and aesthetics were ok in my opinion but they seemed to have completely missed why Dune was such a good story (dont even get me started on the sound mixing, they fucked up the Litany Against Fear for godssakes). Spoiler alert, no one loves it because of the plot. It is the all the history, culture, nuance and worldbuilding. The film embraced zero of those things.

I think most people would agree it should never have been a film in the first place. It should have been a miniseries.

Lastly, the film had zero sense of wonder to it. When I finished reading Dune I was thinking about it for months and even years afterward, when I left that theater I wasnt thinking about anything. The film inspired absolutely nothing in me. It was just a heartless, soulless piece and not in a good way whatsoever.

PS- They didnt even explain the Butlerian Jihad. Didnt even drop the phrase for the sake of wonder, they left zero explanation for why the future is a dystopian feudal hellscape bereft of any computers. No mention of any of these things whatsoever. Wtf?
