GW2 is pretty fun for a while. I only got ~300 hours out of GW2. Though that was in barely more than a month, so I no-lifed it. But since then I tried to get back into it and I already did everything that I deemed worth doing. Still, 300 hours of cheap entertainment, not bad. Has some really cool moments, like the mounts (from the expansion) are so revolutionary, no other game has something like that.

FFXIV is a lot more expensive, a lot more focused on story. Has a lot more content though. GW2 is super slow at updates compared to FFXIV.

Though my suggestion would be just not playing an MMO and playing singleplayer games, they are much better.
