absolutely agree.

but while it’s true that most stupid people are usually the loudest, the number of serbs who try to downplay the severity of crimes committed by the serbs by saying “but both sides” or that “it was just massacres, but not genocide”, “but it’s our ancestral land” etc. is still absurdly high.

according to studies, in the majority-serbian parts of bosnia, around 87% of serbs there say that it wasn’t genocide / mladic wasn’t a war criminal etc. also, the genocide wasn’t just srebrenica, that was near the ending (the west only focuses on that to downplay the fact that they didn’t care for the systemic war crimes for four whole years). since the beginning of the bosnian war, there were concentration camps & rape camps throughout bosnia by serb forces, because “bosniaks were seen as a genetic deformation of serbian people” and therefore bosniak women were systemically put into camps to have “serbian” babies.

most serbs also believe in kosovo being serbian due to propaganda (it was further upper-left around raska, but even if, it shouldn’t matter for the current century anyways?). in 2010, the russian-state patriarch named kyrill also said that kyiv is the ancestral birthplace of russia, sounds familiar no?

while i do have serb friends, i still tell them about this stuff and if they disagree with any of these points i made, they are fascist to me. serbian nationalism is still a huge issue, not only for the balkans but worldwide. it is a fuel to far-right sentiment around all of europe and the rest of the world.
