Reality Check

When I learned about Mandela Effect I started quizzing regular people from family and friends about certain stuff without mentioning ME or leading them in any way and if I found out it was majority opinion that 0+ blood type is universal donor, and that there are 52 states in USA. I would have been glad to conclude it was just a bad memory when I started doing this. Sadly I found out 90% of them would confirm that this is a real phenomenon.

This sample was not contaminated (spoiled because of immersion into the effect as you say). After researching it for myself I can no longer claim that "if you get enough people a few of them will remember things in the same incorrect way" since it was not few but overwhelming majority, almost everyone that I know that got all of these things wrong in exact same way as me.

Granted it was not a truly random sample since these were people from my circle, but all of them have finished or are currently in higher education so I would expect a random sample to be even worse.

Some would say we all got taught the wrong facts about biology and geography in school, but no one can point out the exact source of these misconceptions, so I would not be so sure about that either. Frankly it was and still is a mystery to me, and I would never be so bold to discard it by attributing it to random misremembering. Most people that engage in such rationalizations do it precisely because they don't want it to change their life, and I can understand that.

I just don't agree with it on basis that I don't think their explanations are true, that's all. Everyone is free to spent their time how they please and think about whatever they want. I found out that of all the people I asked these questions that confirmed Mandela Effect for me no one was intrigued to do any further research into it, which is frankly kinda sad.
