A realization that took years to recollect.

"We, we, we", all the way home.

What you're describing is what's been going on for the past - oh, I don't know - hundred generations or so. But, of course, you're talking about the same thing but with one little change - you would decide what is and isn't a technocracy.

Do you think those in places of "authority" don't think they're technocrats? If you took a position next to them, how would you be different? Would you also be one who believes he is qualified to tell others what to do?

I like reality as it is. I like nihilism. I like that you have the freedom to condemn anything, ten ways from Sunday, if you want. And I also like that neither you nor anyone else has authority over me. Nor speaks for me.
