Maybe you're making a mistake in assuming that "both are smart". If Asians happen to be, on average, slightly smarter (based on IQ) than other groups and therefore likely more eligible for college (especially at a high level), then so be it. The same goes for Jews, by the way. If you put a bunch of people at the same starting line, the group of people with genetically longer legs will likely end up winning disproportionally. But that doesn't mean that their running talent should be repressed or put down to socio-economics when it might just be an arbitrary trait more common within a certain group. Nobody here is shunning Black people for dominating things like the NBA, but apparently it's a problem if Asians happen to dominate Academia.
