I really can't do this.

Remember that the internet is a tool we can use for good, and is an essential one in the world we live in. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing, which is what causes a lot of us to fail, I think. Be intentional with what you plan on doing when you hop on, and give yourself a limit that’s hard to ignore (set a timer on your microwave instead of phone, for example. I find my phone timer is too easy to ignore).

Luckily, our brains are super adaptable, so unless you have some sort of brain injury or illness that prevents it, you can come back from anything, regardless of age (I’m 37 and have been able to knock my scrolling habit in half, and am working on reducing it even more). Like any other addiction, it’s important to find something to take up the time you’re using to scroll (there’s a big list at the top of the sub) so you don’t fall back into the same cycle.

Last, but not least, don’t be so hard on yourself. The internet is designed to keep us on it as long as possible
