Really hope they release a Bloodborne Design Works artbook.

I'd call it a good game for anyone that enjoys Action RPGs. Combat was enjoyable, albeit sometimes exceptionally frustrating. Tackling the bigger beasts was thrilling, at times, with the ability to climb on them a la Shadow of the Colossus. Your physical appearance also affects your capabilities, modifying how quickly you run, how quickly you use stamina, how easy it is for you to get knocked around and how much stuff you can carry. There might be more factors but I can't recall them off the top of my head. There are so many different ways to fight and respeccing is possible(including completely changing your Arisen's(and Pawn's) physical appearance and gender). The world was large and fun to explore, and is basically heaven for side-quest junkies. There is a lack of fast-travel early on, however. Some would say that's a con, but I didn't mind.

The plot isn't particularly stunning, but it does have some neat twists and definitely takes you for a ride. I also find that NG+ was done in a rather unique way, offering another twist you only get to see if you complete the game a second time. The length is much like other open world rpgs, however, being rather short if you don't use use side-quests to extend the length of the game. I don't find that a bad thing, though, because the side-quests are done pretty well, I think. Darkness is also done really well. If you remember the kind of lighting we were initially promised, with Dark Souls II, the darkness is similar to that. When the game gets dark, it gets dark. Going outside during the night or into a cave without a light is a good way to get fukt, because you can't see jack.

My least favorite things about the game would be the frequency in which Pawns talk. They repeat themselves often, sometimes repeating themselves while repeating themselves(yo dawg, I heard you like repeating yourself...). The game gives you the option to modify how often your Pawn talks, but not hired Pawns from other Arisens. Unfortunately, it doesn't feel like it changes anything.

The textures are also muddy as all get out. I wouldn't say the game looks downright ugly(it's actually quite gorgeous when viewed from afar) but the textures definitely could've been done better.

The Dark Arisen expansion was really good. It adds quite a bit of length to the game and is definitely challenging. Great bosses, beautiful environments, challenging enemies, great music, it's all there. My absolutely most loathed feature about Dark Arisen stems from me having played the base game. With Dark Arisen came enemy and NPC pop-in all over the place, a problem that didn't exist in the base game. It's not a huge problem, really, but aggravated me because I didn't have to deal with that in the base game.

Overall, I'd say it's well worth buying if you're into Action RPGs and you can get it for cheap. If you get into it, it'll definitely soak up a lot of time because there's a lot to do, and so many different ways to do it. I definitely recommend it if you're looking for something with which to pass the time until Bloodborne releases.
