Commies like to forget that Karl Marx wasn't even communist,

Marx and Engels were members of The Communist League and authors of The Manifesto of the Communist Party, subsequently renamed The Communist Manifesto. In the Manifesto they specifically identify as communists with passages like:

We Communists have been reproached with the desire of abolishing the right of personally acquiring property as the fruit of a man’s own labour, which property is alleged to be the groundwork of all personal freedom, activity and independence.

In his Critique of the Gotha Program Marx also specifically argues against legal, reformist methods being adopted by working-mens' movements because they'll hinder the revolutionary overthrow of society and the attainment of communism. He was also a strong supporter of the Paris Commune and edited several radical, pro-communist journals. You could argue that he didn't like the term 'Marxism'; that he wouldn't have approved of the actions and ideals of people who later identified as Marxists; or that being opposed to capitalism doesn't automatically make you a Marxist or even left-wing (as a lot of modern socialists seem to assume)- but all the evidence points to him being a communist.
