Really like Jinjer, but came across upsetting racist instagram post

I grew up in China during the 80s so I know something about being dirt poor and having limited access to education. I worked my ass off to get where I am, so please don’t assume that I come from a place of privilege, or that I’ve used the word Spanish to refer to Hispanic people, as I’ve never have.

There's a huge difference between being culturally sensitive with regards to racism and excusing offensive gestures because someone didn’t know better.

Also, I’m not out to tarnish anyone’s reputation nor “ruin” anyone. Unless it wasn’t obvious the photo was posted on their official IG page for all to see, so it’s not like I’m outing anyone, the cat was already out of the bag. I merely pointed to what I found offensive, nothing more, and there should be room for that kind of discussion publically, especially when the image was already public. What really becomes a problem is when stuff like this gets dismissed or swept under the carpet, cause it only allows stuff like this come continue.

I have agreed with a previous poster that perhaps this was posted without the understanding to the band that it’s offensive, so I never claimed that the band is racist. The gesture is, and I do not however find voicing the offensiveness of a public image to be aggressive by any stretch.
