I REALLY want to like Windows Phone

After giving Windows Phone another shot shot (third time now) I'm left with the harsh reality that for me, the App Gap is too much to ignore. Simple tools like a proper mileage tracking app for business purposes (and I've tried them all on the WP app store), mobile invoicing, etc is a lynch pin decision for me to put the phone on a shelf and forget about it for the most part. Going back to my N4 running the latest Lollipop and having access to productivity tools I need to run my business was glaringly obvious - no matter how much I wanted to use the WP platform. I'm now considering an N6 but based on much of what I'm reading, it's such a solid phone that I may hold out til Windows 10 is released and see what happens on the App Gap end of things for WP.

It's a shame really that there hasn't been more interest in the platform - I like it if you're going to go stock apps and such, but I searched for days trying to find apps that would do the same thing on my N4 and I just could not find any equals. I've even ditched the Office365 and gone back to Google Apps for Work for email and calendaring as it just works - learned to set up txt msg notifications for critical emails and such as filters so Microsoft also lost my business in that regards - again, a pity as it's a great solution for business owners like myself, but not being able to natively add calendar events and have them show up on all computers is another deal breaker for WP. MY default Email/calendaring app - Postbox, just could not connect to Office365's Exchange calendar no matter what I tried, and I live off my calendar - and I sure did not want to deal with the nightmare that is Outlook - besides having to pay for it.

WP still looks promising to me and I'm willing to forgo upgrading to a new Android device til later this year to see if Microsoft gets its act together. I"m hoping that they will and I can make the switch but app developers need to look at creating apps that small business owners like myself want and need to do what we do on a day to day basis
