It really is NOT about ethics in games journalism: a brief look at /r/KotakuinAction

Thanks for the correction, I misspoke, the person who is a dumbass is Brianna Wu, some other figure who still tweets out some pretty dense stuff. She makes some rather nefarious political claims and hides behind a smokescreen of identity politics, like attacking a journalist for being a white cis man when in fact that journalist has devoted their career to Chelsea Manning, a trans political prisoner. She's a prime example of someone insulated by wealth who thinks going through some shit online makes one qualified to speak about poverty and race.

None of these people deserve death threats and harassment. I just think that, as the old saying goes, the chinese word for crisis also means opportunity, and some of these people really cynically exploited what little fame they got. I guess my bigger issue is that there are no tangible accomplishments at the end of all this, as the whole controversy in the first place is over a consumer product, often made by gigantic corporations. It's like arguing about cereal mascots. Obviously, the people sending death threats over cereal mascots are worse, but the people caught up criticizing them in the first place aren't exactly pursuing a bold and noble career.
