On top of what you’ve said, even if you have a perfectly happy, healthy, egg-laying hen (and those eggs were truly good for humans to eat, which is another issue) then what happens to the male chickens? Usually they are slaughtered in unfathomable numbers as soon as they can be sexed. That, or people just abandon the roosters on the roadside as a “humane” alternative. And what happens to the hen once she stops producing eggs?

If you don’t eat chicken flesh on moral grounds, you shouldn’t eat their eggs either. They both result in unimaginable amounts of slaughter, every day. Same goes for that happy dairy cow on your uncle’s farm. What do vegetarians think happens to the bulls, and the calves?
