Really stupid stuff about guns on Real Time with Bill Maher on Friday. People can buy a "chip" that turns their gun fully automatic apparently.

He's an ally of ours.

Yes and no. I've seen him argue against gun grabbers to which I thought that he was "on our side," but in the article referenced he's quoted:

They go into Chipotle with their rifles. They go on dates with their guns. They take selfies with their guns. They teach their kids to kill with them. They give them as gifts. It’s a sickness.

I don't know what the dates and Chipotle are about, but that makes firearm enthusiasts seem like quirky crazy people that are in love with inanimate objects. People take selfies with lots of stuff, and every non-gun person I've brought to the range wanted a selfie with a gun of their own volition. Some people like hunting and view it as bonding with their kids or communion with nature. A gun as a gift? Sure. Different strokes for different folks. The "sickness" bothers me, because it implies that if you have more than two guns for anything other than self defense, then you're mentally ill.

So, yeah, he's on our side to some degree.
