Really trying to like this album, but it just makes me want to listen to the old albums.

Dude I listened to a few songs and it was boring as FUCK. Don't think I'll ever slog through any of those songs again, and I don't know if I'll even be able to finish the album. I didn't like 10000 Days as much as some of their other stuff but at least there were some fun moments and I relistened to the songs ever now and then. I've heard three now including the single and they were all just like recycled tool riffs and sounds with random rhythmic variations that went on forever and added up to nothing.

I say so because I see you basically apologizing in places for not liking and letting people school you on how you need to study it or grow up or immerse your self in it and that you don't understand what an opinion is because you are claiming it sucks. Most of this stuff people are saying is just the standard nonsense arguing over what an opinion is that comes up whenever people discuss something subjective or outright defense mechanisms that are basically just their own way of asserting their opinion.

"Music is subjective, you can't just say it sucks" - "It's good and I like it and I would like you to shut up"

"People said x other thing sucks when it came out and now look" - "People criticized something that I like and is popular before, so obviously all criticism of what I like is from bad irrational people who need to learn better"

"You didn't manage your expectations" - "Clearly you are an idiot expected this album to solve every problem in your life and are judging it on that basis, your subjective reaction of not enjoying is irrelevant."

It all makes sense to them basically working from the perspective that it's a fact that it's good, but it's just as presumptuous as saying it's dog shit. It's just a little obscured.

I came to this sub just to look for the inevitable drama when I realized how terrible this shit was. Everybody has their highs and their lows. But a fan reddit is not going to be the best about acknowledging that. To be fair maybe there was a less standoffish way to voice your opinion but that's almost always true of any opinion to some extent and like i said, it's just cat nip for the people who disagree with you to tear into you. The line between objective and subjective is blurry. You can't get everyone to agree on something or tell them what they enjoy of course but some stuff floats to the top. From the songs I listened to I have a hard time believing people would care half as much about this stuff if it didn't come under the tool name and sound familiar.
