Reason No. PEN15 not to have kids: Its incredibly easy to fuck them up unintentionally

Dad's been a classic asshole from as far back as I can remember. Growing up my mom didn't drive and dad used to take the family car to work. Every time it used to rain (where I lived hail was pretty common) and my sister and I would ask him to drop us to school (we used to bike or walk) and he would be like no I have to go to work early and why didn't we tell him the night before (hello! How could we mere preteens be able to predict the weather, we didn't have access to weather forecasts) and would leave earlier than his usual time on purpose so that he didn't have to drop us. A couple of times the landline was out of order and I asked him if I could use his cellphone to make an important call and he was pointblank like no. My sister has always been super smart; she scored over 90% in state exams in 10th grade and her name was published in the local newspaper along with other toppers. When she proudly told dad, he was like why didn't you score a 100%? Every time we as kids used to fight or shout he would beat us blue to shut us up. I still shudder from the trauma he caused in my early years. While he provided for us, that was all he really did. He is a hardworker and worked his way up from extreme poverty, has good principles and integrity and I respect him for that, he was just not cut out to be a dad. He has been an absentee father all my life not to mention an absolute tyrant. Now he is in his 70s and none of us are on good talking terms with him and he wonders why we hate him.
