A strong state allows for the preservation of the culture.
I do think the state should have control over citizens values and they should have unwavering loyalty to the state, in exchange for the states protection. That doesn’t mean that leaders have free reign to do anything they want. Leaders in a fascist society should be held accountable for their actions. The superior power of a leader does not mean superior exemption to accountability, on the contrary they are not immune to the damage caused by their mistakes.
The faults of a nation are, after all, a reflection of its leaders. A population aware of their responsibility and the responsibilities of their leaders will never allow a false guide to abuse this relationship and lead them down the slippery slope of mediocrity. It is the responsibility of each and every one of us to hold our leaders accountable for their actions for the good of the nation. a bad leader must always be sacrificed for the greater good.
In a democracy, leaders are not responsible for their actions, because leaders in a democracy aren’t making their own decisions, they are merely instruments for the will of some majority.
I am not completely sure how a failsafe would be put into place, but I have no doubt there’s a way.
