Recently lost my job, my family is going through a rough patch, I've been so sick I'm unable to keep any food down, the girl I love refuses to talk to me, and my friends don't know I exist. Today though, ah today. Today i got my driver's license. Today i got a win.

I remember being around your age (assuming you are 15-18). It wasn’t that long ago actually. I felt like people didn’t listen to me, I felt helpless about what I did and where I went. I felt helpless about what I learned and who I was around. That drivers license was one of the greatest things I ever got. Now you can go wherever you want to. If your family doesn’t want to buy you a car that’s okay. Get whatever job you can find within a 30 minute walk, about a 2 mile radius, and start saving. Don’t spend anything. Eat at home, don’t buy anything you don’t absolutely need. In two years you can have almost 10k saved up and that buys a pretty nice car. If you wait a little longer you can have an even nicer car. Then that’s YOURS. No one, not your family or teachers can take that from you at that point. Buy it cash for now, there is no need to get a car payment at your age, there’s time for that. And don’t worry about it being flashy. Get a Toyota Corolla, Mazda 3 (second gen or newer), Honda Civic or other Japanese economy car. It will last you forever with minimal maintenance, drink almost no gas, and last you until you can afford something nicer. What you will have done for yourself is guaranteed your autonomy. Family kicks you out, cool you’ve got a car. Girlfriend breaks up with you, you’ve got a car. No matter what you have four walls and a roof over your head now. Your mobile, you can go anywhere and do anything. You’ve got this dude. Keep going and things will get exponentially better from here. Teenage years are hard, life gets better I promise.

Tl:dr. Life gets better, it always does. Work and get yourself a car. It will be the proudest moment of your life so far. Stay excellent dude!
