Recently recovered orthorexic patient. Still afraid of peanut butter, though. Finally at a healthy weight, 133 lbs, 5'11F, 19. Live with my parents. Make me revert back to old extreme health habits.

When orthorexia nervosa controlled my eating habits I only ate wild caught sockeye salmon and boiled white potatoes. Those were my safe foods. So I was never vegan while orthorexic. I did, however, avoid dairy, red meat, fats (even healthy fats from avocados, extra virgin olive oil, nuts, e.t.c), carbohydrates (even from complex carbs like whole wheat bread). Potatoes aren't even exactly healthy. They're sprayed with pesticides, fungicides, e.t.c. But it was still a safe food for some reason. Probably because potatoes score highest for their satiety index at 323 in comparison to the controlled variable, white bread, at 100. Many vegans aren't vegan for the same way orthorexics are. Orthorexics usually use veganism as a facade for their destructive food rituals. I oftentimes used to say I was vegan when people would offer me food and I was running out of excuses.
